Brown discharge during ovulation is quite normal around the time of ovulation. In several women, this sign can be more helpful than tracking small changes in their body temperature. This type of change in the vaginal fluid pattern will help a woman in knowing when she might be most receptive in getting pregnant. In case you are experiencing any other symptoms such as unusually frequent urination, burning during urination, itching, foul smelling discharge etc, you may want to consult your gynecologist and report your symptoms. These could be a symptom of some type of an infection or in extremely rare cases, brown discharge could indicate something more serious such as cancer.

What Causes A Brown Color Vaginal Discharge During The Ovulation Period?

During ovulation, the follicle that surrounds and protects the egg, tends to mature and grow. Eventually these will rupture and this can result in a small amount of bleeding. When the blood gets older, it gradually turns from a deep red color to brown. These brown fragments are older bits of blood which is seen in the form of a brownish secretion around ovulation. This entire process is controlled by the body’s hormones. When the estrogen level rises after menstruation, it causes a hormone called ‘Luteinizing hormone’ (LH) to rise as well. Whenever this happens, it gives a signal to a woman’s body to let the egg release from the egg follicles. This results in ovulation. Along with the release of the egg, a slight bloody discharge is noticed.

Brown Discharge During Ovulation – 6 Significant Implications

The appearance of tiny streaks of blood from the vaginal mucus while ovulating, is seen as a normal phenomenon. However, if this discharge appears at every ovulation cycle, it is vital that you see a doctor. Often, a regular rupture of the blood vessel could signify serious pathologies. These need to be corrected before getting pregnant. Here’s a list of significant implications of brown vaginal secretion.

1. Fragility Of Vessels

Often, fragility of vessels are caused due to the shortage of ascorbic and rutin acid. This will result in little bleeding during ovulation. Brown blood is also a result of deficiency of the unsaturated fatty acids or diseases of the body’s cardiovascular system. In a few serious cases, bleeding is caused as a direct result of the diseases of the liver. This will raise the cholesterol and blood level in the body and result in bleeding.

2. Vaginal Infection And Infection Of The Reproductive System

There are several women who experience a mild light brown spotting during their ovulation each month on a regular basis. If you are getting a light brown discharge in the ovulation period, do not be overly worried as it is a harmless condition. However, heavy dark brown discharge accompanied by other serious symptoms during ovulation, should be taken responsibly. Avoid making any assumptions regarding your condition. The best thing to do is to contact your gynecologist or a physician as soon as possible.

3. Menopausal Vaginal Bleeding

Often towards the start of your menopause, few women notice a brownish vaginal discharge. This period indicates a permanent end of your ovulation cycle. This situation requires medical attention. Often, hormone replacement therapy can be a common cause for unusual vaginal bleeding especially towards menopausal stages. However, since vaginal bleeding could also be a early sign of cancer or any other significant anatomical change, it needs instant medical attention as well.

4. Yeast Infection

A thick brown foul smelling discharge can be a sign of a yeast infection. A serious yeast infection is accompanied with abdominal pain, itching, burning and irritation, in addition to the vaginal secretion. Your physician will conduct a pap smear and few other tests to diagnose the presence of any other bacterial infections. The variation in the color of your discharge along with the smell, will serve as a useful indicator in precisely determining the cause and treatment. Try to describe your condition in a precise way. Keep a diary to track significant changes. This will help you to give accurate details to your gynecologist.

5. Sexually Transmitted Diseases

Any woman who is experiencing a brown color discharge while ovulating, may become concerned. This is especially true if this is a first time occurrence for her. Some women who are sexually active could even mistakenly believe that such type of a vaginal discharge may be a sign of a sexually transmitted disease. This could even cause a woman to get overly worried and get anxiety panic. However, you need to remember that unless you have reasons to believe otherwise, this type of brownish discharge is quite common and perfectly normal. Often, being unaware of the condition, a woman could take brown spotting during the ovulation stage to be a usual start of menstruation.

6. Help In Getting Pregnant

Every month, a woman experiences a series of changes in the thickness and color of her vaginal discharge. These changes will serve as a helpful indicator. It will give you a sign and help you to know when you are most fertile. During the ovulation period, many woman experience a change of color from clear white to yellowish to a brown discharge. It is fairly common to get a clear and thin discharge while ovulation. This is the vagina’s way of allowing the sperm to get through into the cervix.

Brown discharge during ovulation is not experienced by all women. Also, some women get it in a very small quantity and hence it may not even be noticeable unless they really look for it. Few women will even notice that their juices get thicker when they are ovulating. Additionally, this brownish spotting may be mixed with the white cervical mucus and could become less noticeable, especially when you are wearing a light colored undergarment. The timing of the brown spotting will vary among different women. However, this usually occurs during ovulation or right before ovulation.
